Abstract
If domestic wastewater is directly discharged into water bodies without being treated
first, it will cause the water quality to decline and disrupt aquatic biota, therefore
domestic wastewater must be treated first at a Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL).
Communal IPAL is a suitable solution for domestic wastewater treatment. To
determine the impact that will be caused, it is necessary to test physical, chemical
parameters and toxicity levels. This research aimed to determine the LC50 value in
the Mendiro Communal WWTP influent and effluent using the Whole Effluent
Toxicity (WET) method using zebrafish (Danio rerio). The WET test consists of a
preliminary test carried out for 24 hours and followed by a toxicity test carried out
for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The LC50 value at Mendiro Communal WWTP can be
calculated using the probit method. Based on the analysis results, the LC50 value for
the Mendiro Communal WWTP influent was 4%, while the LC50 value for the
effluent could not be calculated because there were no deaths in the test animals
during testing.
