Abstract

ABSTRACT Rock landslide events and rock fall is one of the natural disasters that cause many disadvantages. Most of the access roads in the Gunungkidul region through hills and limestone mountains, so that the area has the potential for disaster. In this research, the slope stability analysis and the recommendation of building protection against rock fall. The study began with a literature study followed by field investigation and laboratory testing. The analytical step begins with the slope modeling of the original condition using Plaxis 2.4 software to determine the safety factor on the slopes being reviewed. Then modeled the fall of stone using RocFall software to determine the speed of falling rocks, the amount of energy due to rock fall and the distribution of rock fall. From the modeling results are designed buildings rock shed protection. The slopes in the existing condition have met the requirements of safe factor of rock movement. With the addition of earthquake loads of 0.3g the safety factor slope to 1.146. Slopes become vulnerable to rock movement. Therefore designed rock shed as a protective building against the fall of stone. Rock shed is designed with a thick layer of 0.9 m absorbers and is able to withstand forces due to maximum rock fall of 725 kN. In conditions after the existence of rock shed protection buildings, the slope has a safe factor of 1.676. According to Hoek, the slope of the rock can be said to be safe against rock avalanches. In rock fall modeling, rock shed is able to withstand the force due to rock fall and throw the rock fall to the side of the valley so that the road is safe against the fall of rocks. These results indicate that slopes under conditions of rock shed protection are safe against rock landslides and rock fall.
