Abstract
This research is titled "Comparing the Structural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Using Strong Axis Beam and Weak Axis Beam," using the Kasih Ibu Hospital in Solo, Central Java, as the research object. The building has 13 floors with 6 parking levels, a total height of 53.3 meters, a length of 76 meters, and a width of 30.3 meters. The objective of this research is to determine the changes in structural behavior, beam capacity, and reinforcement requirements due to the change in the beam axis. The research methodology employed is a comparative method. Two identical building models were created: one with strong-axis beam and the other with weak-axis beam. The structural behavior of these two models was compared to identify differences in structural behavior, beam capacity, and reinforcement requirements due to the axis change. For the building using weak-axis beam, there was an increase in the building's total weight compared to the building with strong-axis beam, from 255.410,340 kN to 260.174,052 kN. Additionally, the weak-axis beam model exhibited an increase in the building's vibration period compared to the strong-axis beam model, from 1.719 seconds to 1.9015 seconds. This indicates that the structural stiffness of Model 2 is lower than that of Model 1, demonstrating that the structural stability of Model 2 does not meet the requirements of SNI 1726:2019, necessitating the redesign of structural elements to comply with this standard. The conclusion of this study is that altering the beam axis leads to a reduction in the building's structural stiffness, resulting in various irregularities. Therefore, it is necessary to redesign the structural elements and enhance the reinforcement requirements for beams with altered axes.
