This study investigates the portrayal of societal issues in the South Korean television drama "Itaewon Class" using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The research focuses on themes of discrimination, power dynamics, corruption, and social hierarchy as reflected in the drama's narrative. The objective is to explore how these societal norms are depicted and critiqued within the show. The research employs CDA methodology, specifically Norman Fairclough's framework, which encompasses three dimensions: textual analysis, discursive practices, and sociocultural practices. Textual analysis examines verbal and visual elements, discursive practices analyze the intentions and ideologies within the drama, and sociocultural practices explore the broader societal context. The findings from the analysis of selected scenes highlight significant instances of racism and discrimination, illustrating the drama's potential to provoke global discussions about social justice. These findings suggest that "Itaewon Class" effectively uses media narratives to reflect and critique societal realities, thereby contributing to public discourse on an international scale. The types of discrimination represented include racial discrimination, social class discrimination, gender discrimination, and LGBTQ+ discrimination. The power relations impacting these forms of discrimination include institutional power, economic power, and social hierarchies. The factors that enable the drama to effectively deliver these messages of awareness are its relatable characters, compelling narratives, and cultural context. The conclusion emphasizes the drama's role in shaping societal attitudes and its potential for fostering social change.en_US
