Abstract

The production layout at CV. Salwa Indoboga required redesign to minimize production movement distances and improve workflow efficiency. This study aimed to optimize the layout by applying systematic facility planning approaches. The methods used included the Activity Relationship to analyze functional relationships, while Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) and rectilinear distance calculations were employed to evaluate alternative layouts. Five proposed layouts were generated and compared. The results showed that Layout 3 provided the most optimal performance. For grilled chicken, the distance decreased from 60 meters to 36 meters (a reduction of 24 meters or 40%), and for spicy beef, from 70 meters to 33 meters (a reduction of 37 meters or 52.9%). For the decoration sets process, the distance decreased from 44.5 meters to 22.5 meters (a reduction of 22 meters or 49.4%). In conclusion, the redesign successfully minimized material movement, improved safety, organization, and efficiency in the production area, with Layout 3 selected as the best option to support more efficient operations.
