Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between neuroticism, conscientiousness and student academic efficacy among 96 student of Psychology in Islamic University of Indonesia. There are three hypotheses, first neuroticism and conscientiousness correlated student academic efficacy. Second, low neuroticism correlated with higher student academic efficacy. Third, higher conscientiousness correlated with higher student academic efficacy. Data were collected using three scales include student academic efficacy scale from theory of Bandura (1997). Neuroticism scale from theory Costa and McCrae (1992) was based of IPIP scales (http://ipip.ori.org). Conscientiousness scale was adaptation from research of Zulaifah, et al (2008). Data were analizad use multipel regression and partial correlations analysis. Results indicated three finding, first that neuroticism and conscientiousness both together were significantly related to student academic efficacy (r=0.763 p=0.00, p<0.01). Second, that neuroticism was negatively significantly related to student academic efficacy (r= -0.4585, p=0.00, p<0.01). Third, that conscientiousness was positifly significantly related to student academic efficacy (r= 0.4261, p=0.00, p<0.01).
