Abstract
The waste glass powder is used in concrete due to its pozzolanic reactivity, which can improve the microstructure of the paste and enhance the strength and durability of the concrete in the long term. Additionally, waste glass powder can contribute to the refinement of the pore structure, leading to increased resistance to chloride penetration and water permeability in concrete. The objective of this study is to identify the effect of glass powder on the compressive strength, tensile strength, and modulus elasticity of concrete, and to identify the optimum percentage of glass powder that maximizes the mechanical properties and durability of concrete without compromising its workability. The type of glass powder is green glass and collected from Pabrik Penggilingan beling. The dimensions of concrete samples for compressive strength, tensile strength, and modulus elasticity in cylindrical specimen forms are 30 cm x 15 cm for all the specimens.. This mix design incorporates six different ratios using SNI-03-2834-2000 of glass powder, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, cement, and water from 0% to 30%. The effect of Glass powder can improve the mechanical properties of concrete by the means of pozzolanic activity. The test results showed that the tensile strength, and modulus elasticity (MOE) decreased with the increase of GP Content. The optimum percentage of glass powder is 20% that maximizes the mechanical properties and durability of concrete without compromising its workability. There is a strong increase because of the pozzolan glass waste powder is a material containing silica and alumina, the compound will react chemically with calcium hydroxide at room temperature and form compounds that have properties like cement.
